Roofing in Conroe

Conroe is the seat of Montgomery County and one of the fastest-growing cities in the Houston region, anchored by its historic downtown and rapid new development along I-45.

Conroe

Historic Roots. Fast Growth.

Conroe traces its roots to 1881, when Houston lumberman Isaac Conroe established a sawmill on Stewart’s Creek at the junction of the International-Great Northern Railroad. A post office opened at the mill in 1884 under the name Conroe’s Switch, and within a decade the name was shortened to Conroe. The arrival of a second rail line in the mid-1880s made it the county’s key rail junction, fueling a lumber boom and helping the town replace Montgomery as county seat in 1889.

Conroe weathered the Great Depression until oil was struck nearby in 1931, launching a boom that reshaped the city. The creation of 22,000-acre Lake Conroe in 1973 transformed the economy again, bringing recreation, lakeside development, and long-term growth. Today, preserved downtown streets and a designated Cultural District stand beside expanding communities like Grand Central Park, while homeowners across River Plantation, Woodforest, and beyond rely on Rainy Day Roofing, Siding, & Windows for storm-ready protection against Gulf Coast heat, hail, and hurricane-season weather.
