Railroad Roots. No City Property Tax.
Stafford is a compact city of about 7 square miles, mostly in Fort Bend County with a small piece in Harris County, tucked between Sugar Land, Missouri City, and southwest Houston. From established one-story homes to newer neighborhoods near the Stafford Centre, Rainy Day Roofing, Siding, & Windows delivers storm-ready protection built for Texas weather.
From Stafford’s Point To Stafford
William Stafford built a plantation here in 1830, and the settlement that grew around it became known as Stafford’s Point. In 1853 it became a stop on the Buffalo Bayou, Brazos and Colorado Railway, the first railroad in Texas, and the community officially incorporated as the City of Stafford in 1956.
Stafford Today
In 1995 Stafford eliminated its city property tax and has funded city services through sales tax ever since, which makes it one of the largest cities in the country without one. The 2020 census counted 17,666 residents, and the city has its own school district, Stafford MSD, alongside Fort Bend ISD.

Stafford Home Improvement FAQs
Answers to common questions from homeowners considering roofing, siding, or window work in Stafford.
Do I need a permit to replace my roof in Stafford?
In most cases, yes. A full roof replacement inside Stafford city limits generally requires a building permit. We confirm the requirements for your address and handle the paperwork before work begins.
My Stafford home was built in the 1970s or 1980s. What should I know before replacing the roof?
Many of Stafford’s established homes are on their second or third roof, and older decking can hide soft spots, rot, or past leak damage. We check the decking during tear-off and walk you through anything that needs replacing before your new roof goes on.
Does Stafford get much hail?
Spring storms crossing Fort Bend County can bring hail, and tropical systems like Hurricane Beryl in 2024 bring strong winds and heavy rain to the whole area.
If a storm comes through, we can inspect your roof, document any damage with photos, and help you decide whether filing an insurance claim makes sense.
How much is a roof in Stafford?
The price depends on your roof’s size, pitch, number of layers, and the shingle line you choose, so two homes on the same Stafford street can come in very differently.
Our instant roof estimate gives you a price for your specific home in seconds, and an in-person inspection confirms every detail before you commit.
Does Stafford’s lack of a city property tax change anything about my project?
Not for the work itself, but it does make Stafford a popular place to stay and invest. A new roof, siding, or windows protect that investment and can improve energy efficiency and curb appeal for years.
Do you serve all of Stafford?
Yes. We serve homeowners throughout Stafford on both sides of I-69, plus nearby Sugar Land, Missouri City, Meadows Place, and southwest Houston.
