Willis, Texas

Railroad Roots. Lakeside Living.

Willis is a small Montgomery County city just north of Conroe, set among the pines near the north end of Lake Conroe. From historic homes near downtown to newer subdivisions and lakeside communities, Rainy Day Roofing, Siding, & Windows delivers storm-ready protection built for Texas weather.

From Rail Stop To Willis

Willis was founded in 1870, when Galveston merchants Peter J. and Richard S. Willis donated a townsite to the Houston and Great Northern Railroad. Trains began running in 1872, and the town quickly became a shipping point for timber and crops. By 1895, tobacco fields around Willis supported seven cigar factories, until the tariff on Cuban tobacco was lifted and the industry faded.

Willis Today

Oil discoveries in the early 1930s helped Willis recover from the Great Depression, and the city incorporated in 1937. It adopted a home rule charter in 2008, and today new subdivisions and Lake Conroe communities continue to bring families to the area.

Willis Home Improvement FAQs

Answers to common questions from homeowners considering roofing, siding, or window work in Willis.

Do I need a permit to replace my roof in Willis?

Homes inside Willis city limits fall under the city’s building permit requirements, while many nearby Lake Conroe homes are in unincorporated Montgomery County. We confirm the rules for your address before any work begins.

Do lakeside homes near Willis need a different kind of roof?

Homes near Lake Conroe deal with more wind and humidity, which can lead to algae growth and faster wear. Algae-resistant shingles and well-sealed flashing are smart upgrades for lakeside homes.

How do storms affect roofs in Willis?

Willis sits among tall pines, so storms often bring falling limbs along with hail and wind, and both can damage shingles, gutters, and siding.

After a storm, we can inspect your home, photograph any damage, and help you figure out whether an insurance claim is worth filing.

How much is a roof in Willis?

Willis homes range from older homes near downtown to newer builds and larger lakeside properties, and roof size, pitch, and material all affect the price.

A shingle roof will likely vary between $10,000-$25,000.

What siding is best for homes in Willis?

Hardie fiber-cement siding is a great fit for Willis because it stands up to humidity, rot, and woodpeckers far better than wood, and it holds paint well in the Texas sun.

Do you serve the Lake Conroe area around Willis?

Yes. We serve Willis and the surrounding north Lake Conroe area, including Seven Coves and nearby lakeside neighborhoods, as well as Conroe, Montgomery, and New Waverly.
