Why Rainy Day

Why Alvin Homeowners Choose Rainy Day

Alvin holds a weather record nobody wants: Tropical Storm Claudette dropped 43 inches of rain on the city in 24 hours in 1979. Add spring hail and storms like Hurricane Beryl in 2024, and Alvin roofs work hard. We help homeowners get clear answers and dependable repairs before small problems turn into big ones.

Storm Damage Inspections

After hail, high winds, or a tropical storm, we inspect your roof, siding, and windows and photograph what we find, so you know exactly where your home stands.

Insurance Claim Guidance

We help Alvin homeowners understand their storm damage and walk them through the insurance claim process from first call to final payment.

Backed For Life

Roof replacements include lifetime labor and lifetime manufacturer material coverage, so your roof stays protected long after our crew packs up.

GAF Certified

Our GAF Certified status lets us offer the GAF System Plus Warranty on qualifying roof replacements for an added layer of protection.

Alvin, Texas

Railroad Roots. Hometown Pride.

Alvin sits in northern Brazoria County along Mustang Bayou, about 30 miles south of downtown Houston, with a small-town downtown and a restored Santa Fe depot. From older homes near the city center to newer construction on the edges of town, Rainy Day Roofing, Siding, & Windows delivers storm-ready protection built for Texas weather.

From Morgan To Alvin

When the Santa Fe Railroad built cattle pens along Mustang Bayou, it hired Alvin Morgan as overseer, and he built the first house in the area in 1879. Residents first named the town Morgan, then switched to his first name when they learned another Texas town already had it. Alvin incorporated in 1893, the first incorporated city in Brazoria County.

Alvin Today

Alvin rebuilt after the 1900 storm and grew on rice, strawberries, and the railroad. It is famous as the hometown of Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan, and the 2020 census counted 27,098 residents.

Alvin Home Improvement FAQs

Answers to common questions from homeowners considering roofing, siding, or window work in Alvin.

Do I need a permit to replace my roof in Alvin?

In most cases, yes. A full roof replacement inside Alvin city limits generally requires a building permit, while homes outside the city fall under Brazoria County. We confirm what applies to your address before work begins.

Do I need windstorm certification for my roof in Alvin?

Brazoria County is part of the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association’s coverage area, so some homes need roofing installed and inspected to Texas Department of Insurance windstorm standards. We confirm what your address and insurance require.

How bad is storm season in Alvin?

Alvin sees spring hail, summer downpours, and tropical systems through November. Tropical Storm Claudette set a national 24-hour rainfall record here in 1979, and Hurricane Beryl brought damaging winds in 2024.

If a storm comes through, we can inspect your roof, document any damage with photos, and help you decide whether an insurance claim makes sense.

How much is a roof in Alvin?

Alvin homes range from older one-story homes near downtown to larger two-story homes in newer subdivisions, and roof size, pitch, and material all affect the price.

Our instant roof estimate gives you a price for your specific home in seconds, and an in-person inspection confirms every detail before you commit.

What siding holds up best in Alvin humidity?

Hardie fiber-cement siding is a strong choice for Alvin because it resists rot, moisture, and termites, which matters near the bayous and in Brazoria County’s humid climate.

Do you serve areas around Alvin?

Yes. Along with every Alvin neighborhood, we serve nearby Manvel, Liverpool, Hillcrest, Friendswood, Pearland, and Santa Fe.
