Republic Roots. County Seat Pride.
Richmond is the county seat of Fort Bend County, set on the Brazos River about 15 miles southwest of Houston, and the Richmond name reaches well beyond its small city limits into fast-growing master-planned communities. From historic homes downtown to new construction in Harvest Green and Veranda, Rainy Day Roofing, Siding, & Windows delivers storm-ready protection built for Texas weather.
From Fort Bend To County Seat
In 1822, members of Stephen F. Austin’s colony built a blockhouse at a bend in the Brazos River, known as Fort Bend. The town that grew nearby was named for Richmond, England, incorporated by the Republic of Texas in May 1837, and became the seat of the new Fort Bend County that December.
Richmond Today
Richmond’s historic downtown still anchors the county, while communities like Pecan Grove, Long Meadow Farms, Harvest Green, and Veranda have grown around it. The city itself counted 11,627 residents in 2020, with many more living at Richmond addresses outside city limits.

Richmond Home Improvement FAQs
Answers to common questions from homeowners considering roofing, siding, or window work in Richmond.
Do I need a permit to replace my roof in Richmond?
It depends on where your home sits. Homes inside Richmond city limits generally need a building permit, while many homes with a Richmond address are in unincorporated Fort Bend County. We confirm what applies to your address before work begins.
Does my Richmond HOA need to approve my new roof?
In master-planned communities like Pecan Grove, Harvest Green, Long Meadow Farms, and Veranda, usually yes. HOAs typically review shingle style and color before work starts, and we provide the product details and samples they ask for.
How bad is storm season in Richmond?
Richmond sees spring hail, summer downpours, and tropical systems through November. Hurricane Harvey pushed the Brazos River to record levels in 2017, and Hurricane Beryl brought damaging winds in 2024.
If a storm comes through, we can inspect your roof, document any damage with photos, and help you decide whether an insurance claim makes sense.
How much is a roof in Richmond?
Richmond homes range from historic homes downtown to large two-story homes in newer communities, and roof size, pitch, and material all affect the price.
Our instant roof estimate gives you a price for your specific home in seconds, and an in-person inspection confirms every detail before you commit.
Can you work on historic homes in downtown Richmond?
Yes. We can help you choose roofing, siding, and windows that respect an older home’s character while adding modern protection and energy efficiency.
Which Richmond areas do you serve?
We serve homeowners throughout Richmond, including historic downtown, Pecan Grove, Long Meadow Farms, Harvest Green, Veranda, and Aliana, plus nearby Rosenberg, Sugar Land, Fulshear, and Needville.
