Santa Fe, Texas

Railroad Roots. Room To Breathe.

Santa Fe is a city of about 12,700 residents in western Galveston County, named for the Santa Fe Railroad that runs through town alongside Highway 6. Known for larger lots and a small-town feel between Houston and Galveston, it is a place where Rainy Day Roofing, Siding, & Windows delivers storm-ready protection built for coastal Texas weather.

From Three Rail Towns To One City

The Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway was built through western Galveston County in 1877, and the towns of Alta Loma, Arcadia, and Algoa grew up along it. In 1928 the three communities formed a consolidated school district and named the high school Santa Fe, after the railroad that tied them together.

Santa Fe Today

When neighboring Hitchcock tried to annex part of Alta Loma in the 1970s, residents pushed back, and on January 21, 1978, voters approved incorporating Alta Loma and part of Arcadia as the City of Santa Fe. The 2020 census counted 12,735 residents, and locals still call their town The Fe.

Santa Fe Home Improvement FAQs

Answers to common questions from homeowners considering roofing, siding, or window work in Santa Fe.

Do I need a permit to replace my roof in Santa Fe?

In most cases, yes. A full roof replacement inside Santa Fe city limits generally requires a building permit. We confirm the requirements for your address and handle the paperwork before work begins.

Do I need windstorm certification for my roof in Santa Fe?

Galveston County is part of the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association’s coverage area, so roofs here are often installed and inspected to Texas Department of Insurance windstorm standards. We confirm what your address and insurance require and install to that standard.

How often do hurricanes affect Santa Fe?

Tropical systems are a real risk from June through November, and storms like Hurricane Ike in 2008 and Hurricane Beryl in 2024 brought damaging winds to Santa Fe.

After a storm, we can inspect your roof, document any damage with photos, and help you decide whether an insurance claim makes sense.

How much is a roof in Santa Fe?

Santa Fe has everything from older homes near the original Alta Loma townsite to larger homes on acreage, and roof size, pitch, material, and any windstorm requirements all affect the price.

Our instant roof estimate gives you a price for your specific home in seconds, and an in-person inspection confirms every detail before you commit.

Do you work on shops, barns, and outbuildings?

Yes. Many Santa Fe properties have detached garages, shops, or barns, and we can inspect and repair or replace those roofs along with your home.

Do you serve all of Santa Fe?

Yes. We serve homeowners throughout Santa Fe, including Alta Loma, Arcadia, and Algoa, plus nearby Hitchcock, Dickinson, League City, and Alvin.
